Muskies Extend Series Lead to 2-0
The Lindsay Bantam Muskies put in another dominating performance in taking a 2-0 Series lead over the Port Hope Predators with an 8-0 win in Game 2. The Muskies scored early taking a 1-0 lead only 9 seconds into the game with a goal from Cameron Robinson (assists to Caileb Duffy and Liam Shanks). The Muskies made it 2-0 just a few minutes later with a strong forechecking effort by the line of Dawson Bruce, Zack Rhodes and Matt Cooke as Rhodes scored the goal with the lone assist going to Bruce. The same line connected again on a PP goal, due to a result of a good cycling play, mid-way through the period to put the Muskies up 3-0. The goal was scored by Dawson Bruce with assists to Zack Rhodes and Hunter Reedman. The 1st period ended with Lindsay up 3-0 after outshooting Port Hope 14-3.

The 2nd period saw the Muskies again get into penalty trouble as they took 5 minor penalties. However excellent penalty killing by defensemen Jaryd Lapointe and Curtis Appleton with the forward combos of Drake McQuarrie and Caileb Duffy, Cody Defreitas and Dryden Brown and Liam Shanks and Cameron Robinson saw the team successfully kill them all off. The combination of Robinson and Shanks was able to score 2 SH goals in the middle part of the period. The first being a wrist shot from the top of the circle with Robinson getting his 2nd of the game (assists to Garrett Fierheller and Shanks) and then again a few minutes later on a shorthanded breakaway with Robinson completing the hat-trick (assist to Riley MacIver). The Muskies ended the period up 6-0 with a goal in the last few seconds as Caileb Duffy scored a breakaway goal with assists to Robinson and MacIver. The shots in this period were Muskies 11, Predators 3.

The final period lacked intensity and saw some sloppy play from both teams. However the Muskies were able to pad their lead and preserve the shutout for goalie Tanner King. Matt Cooke made it 7-0 a few minutes into the period (assists to Dawson Bruce and Zack Rhodes) and the same line tallied again at the mid-way point of the period to round out the scoring with Rhodes getting his 2nd of the game with assists going to defensemen Curtis Appleton and Garrett Fierheller. The final period saw the Muskies outshoot the Predators by a margin of 10-5 for a final game tally of 35-11.

While not overly busy Tanner King was again called on to make key saves at several points of the game to get the shutout. 3 Stars of the game were Dawson Bruce (1G and 2 A), Drake McQuarrie (a strong forechecking game) and Curtis Appleton (1A with strong penalty killing and defensive play). The Muskies will need to play more disciplined and stay out of the penalty box as the playoffs proceed and hope to wrap up this series with a sweep next Saturday in Game 3 at 6:30 in Port Hope.
