Muskies Drop Game 1 of Semi-Final
The Lindsay Bantam Muskies traveled to Midland last night for Game 1 of the All Ontario OMHA Semi-Finals. The team knew they would be in for a hard game as the Midland team is one of the top-ranked Bantam teams in the Province and a very strong squad. The Muskies came out battling hard with a strong forecheck and a good physical game which saw the 1st period end in a 0-0 tie. The period was very even and the Muskies outshot Midland 10-8 in the period.

However, early in the 2nd period Midland found another gear and the Muskies let off a bit and the opposition took advantage to take a 3-0 lead on goals 3 minutes into the 2nd frame. The period settled down after that with both teams scoring late goals (Cameron Robinson for the Muskies with assists to Caileb Duffy and Cody Defreitas) to send the game into the intermission 4-1.

The 3rd period was much like the 2nd with Midland coming out very strong and taking it to the Muskies early with some quick goals. The Muskies kept battling and were able to get back to their strong forecheck and physical game but Midland proved to be too much in the end. The game was closer than the final score of 8-1 indicated and saw Midland outshoot Lindsay 31-20. 3 Stars of the game were Jaryd Lapointe (with his best game of the year in a defensive and physical effort), Riley MacIver and Cameron Robinson.

The coaching staff was very proud of the effort the players put in and the fact that they didn't quit and fought until the final buzzer. Hopefully they can build on the 1st period and bring 45 minutes of intensity to the next game as the Midland team is too strong to let off the gas for 5 minutes a period.

Game 2 goes this Saturday March 2nd at 6:30 at the Lindsay Recreation Complex with game 3 scheduled for 4:30 on Sunday March 3rd back in Midland.
