Midgets win Jim Wilson Chevrolet Winter Classic Tournament
Dramatic Win for Lindsay Muskie BB Midgets:

This past weekend the Lindsay Midget BB Muskies competed in the 15th Annual Jim Wilson Chevrolet Winter Classic Tournament in Orillia. The tournament was comprised of sixty-five teams from all over Ontario from Atom to Midget divisions.

Lindsay started the journey on Friday night with a decisive victory over the Pelham Panthers 6-0. Scoring for us was: Scott Clyne, Marcus Piggott, Grant Thompson (2), Matt Flynn, and Jake Daynes. Shut out: Harris. The second game was a difficult loss of 1-0 at the hands of the Kincardine Flyers, however the boys rallied back with a great victory of 6-0 over the Georgetown Raiders. Scoring was: Mitchell Brown (2), Matt Flynn, Marcus Piggott, Brett Marshall, and Jake Daynes. Shut out: Harris. This positioned the Muskies in third place overall and a chance to redeem themselves in the Semi Final game against the Kincardine Flyers. The boys took a commanding lead of 4-0 before the end of the first period and ended the game with a 4-1 victory. Scoring for Lindsay was: Hayden Long (2), Mitchell Brown, Riley Jenkins.

The finals proved to be the toughest challenge of the weekend when the Muskies faced off against the Uxbridge Stars for the Championship game on the Sunday afternoon. It was 2-0 for Uxbridge until Lindsay pulled their goalie with under two minutes left in the third period and a goal by Hayden Long with 1:38 left set up for a thrilling finish. After gaining control of the play shortly after the face off at center, Lindsay again pulled their goalie and the Muskies found the back of the net again with Matt Flynn hitting the twine with forty-four seconds remaining in regulation time.

Going into the shoot out, Lindsay goalie Adam Harris came up big with four saves in four attempts making way for Jake Daynes to slide one by the Uxbridge tender to win the tournament for Lindsay in a dramatic fashion.

Big thanks goes out to all the family and friends who were there to cheer us on as well as the Orillia Tournament Committee for running a great weekend.

The team played fantastic and represented Lindsay and Lindsay Minor Hockey well-Congrats boys!!!
