The buzzer sounds on the end of the season
On a night when many of the Lindsay Midget Teal players stepped onto the ice for the last time in their minor hockey career, a lot was on the line.

Going into game 3 of the A division championship, all the players on both benches knew what was at stake .... A tie or a win by Lindsay would see them finish the season as the champions, a loss would force a game 4 in this race to 4 points series.  The night went pretty much as it was scripted to go.  Lindsay knew that Sturgeon would come out hard, pressing at every opportunity, trying hard to wind some of the Lindsay players up to take penalties and possibly get kicked out of the game.  Although Lindsay did receive many penalties in what for the most part was a tightly called game (with some glaring exceptions of course!)
The first period would see the visitors pick up 3 penalties, while the home side was only assessed one.  However, the only stat that would really matter is the one that came at 2:54 of the period when Mike C received a pass from Liam and Brock to plant one in the back of the net.
The second period would see the home squad taking 4 penalties to the visitors 2, and it would also see the home side tie the game at 1 with 6:08 left in the frame.  However like we have seen so many times this season, when one goal goes in, another is often quick to follow, and in this case it was Liam getting the pass from Dan and Mike C just :50 seconds later to put the Teal team back on top 2-1.  Not satisfied with that however Mike C teamed up with Brock and Jeff to help make the Lindsay coaches feel a lot more at ease by popping another goal to make it 3-1.  With just :26 left in the frame, one of the 2 penalties that Lindsay received in the period would take place, giving the home side the chance to try and get back into the game before the flood. Lindsay though would have none of that, and Jeff, with a little help from Brock and Wil, found the back of the net once again, this time with just 6 seconds left in the period to take a 4-1 lead into the flood.
The third period would see Lindsay trying to play a lot more of a defensive game, chipping the puck back into the Sturgeon end at every opportunity, keeping the home team and their fans quiet.  The strategy worked well, with the help of 4 more penalties allowing for the puck to be iced without a stoppage in play, with just :21 seconds left in the game Sturgeon's fate was officially sealed when Liam broke out on one of the penalty kills that Lindsay had to deal with to score the second short handed goal of the game for Lindsay, making the final in the game 5-1 for Lindsay.
It was nice to see this team come together through all the hard times that they have been through this year trying to have enough guys to play many of their games.  For many of these boys this is the first championship they have been on, for others they have tasted victory before, but it is always sweeter when it can be done in the final year, which it is for 8 of these players.
Congratulations boys, you played well and didn't get caught up in all the garbage that surrounded you at times throughout the season.
