The Lindsay Tyke Rep Muskies were ousted from the lakeshore playoffs on Sunday March 10th. After taking the first two games of the series to cap a 23 game undefeated streak, and one win away from the finals, the Tyke Muskies dropped three games in a row, to the Pickering Panthers.
With the Pickering team winning the last game in Pickering, 7-5 (one an empty net goal), the boys put up a great fight. Down to 9 players and a goalie for the series deciding game, everything seemed to go against the underdog Muskies. They were given multiple undeserved penalties and even scored two goals that were disallowed by the poor officiating.
When the buzzer sounded, the Muskies showed their grace as they skated to the side boards and raised their sticks to salute the parents in the stands, after the disappointing loss. With their heads held high and proud, they exited the ice for the last time this season to a standing, cheering crowd. In a moment of true sportsmanship the boys gathered in the middle of the dressing room to cheer each other and all their success, for what they have accomplished this year will be a launching point for great future hockey players, teammates and young men.
The Lindsay Tyke Muskies have had an exceptional season with a final record of 29-11-5 and the team has improved and excelled so much at such a young age. The coaches couldn't be more proud of the boys. A big thank you as well to an amazingly supportive group of parents, and to our sponsors Canadian Tire and Boston Pizza.
Most of all, thank you to the Boys....
So keep your eyes on the '05's
It's the tip of the iceberg with these guys!
