Start of Season for the Muskie Novice BB's
The Lindsay Muskie Novice BB's have come out swinging  for the 2013/14 season. The boys have finished up a three game road trip (2-1-0), and have been steadily improving since they hit the ice. The BB's have been entered into 2 tournaments, one of which is a Silver Stick, and they have a fundraising tag day set for Thanksgiving weekend. A special shout out to some new faces on the team - Riley Bolton in net, Nathan King at center, Cam McDermott on the point and Ben Deschamps on the wing. Welcome to the Novice Rep. family!

The start of the 2013/14 season for the Lindsay Novice BB's saw an array of away games. The first of three took place on Sunday, Sept. 22nd in Napanee. It was a disappointing showing for the seasons start, with a 9-3 loss to the Napanee Stars. The Stars who were reported to have several games and a tournament win under their belt, came out hard and easily manhandled Lindsay. But there were signs of life as Lindsay would battle for three goals - Thomas Malcolm assisted by Blaze Selleck @10:24 of the second, Jacob Moore assisted by William Fierheller @1:03 of the second, and Nate King unassisted @3:07 of the third.

What a difference a week makes. A couple of hard practices later and the boys are playing like a team. They took to the ice in Ajax, against the Ajax Knights Saturday Sept. 28th with the Muskies out matching their opponent by quite a lot; the final tally being 17-0 for Lindsay. The boys did play an exceptional game of heads-up passing and positioning. The team was led by Nate King with 3 goals and 3 assists, followed by Blaze Selleck with 4 goals and Ben Deschamps with 1 goal and 3 assists. Karter Robertson had 2 goals and 1 assist and big Mike Kennedy chipped in with a goal and 2 assists. Rounding out the scoring was Jake Moore and Kyle Sanderson with 2 apiece, Fierheller with a goal and an assist, Jax Radford with 2 assists, Cam McDermott one goal and Kadyn Goble and Tom Malcolm with one assist each.

On Sunday Sept. 29th the Muskies traveled to Whitby to take on the Wildcats. Lindsay opened the scoring in the first with a goal by Jacob Moore assisted by William Fierheller. After a goal by Whitby to tie things up at the end of the first, the second period saw a hard fought game with the Muskies taking most of the play to the opponents but nothing to show for it at the end of the period. The third saw Lindsay once again take the lead, when at 9:48 Moore sniped an unassisted goal. The celebration was short lived as Whitby tied the game at 2 just 24 seconds later. The play was tense with multiple chances at both ends of the ice but the Muskies net minder, Riley Bolton, did a stand up job between the pipes. stopping all incoming shots with great rebound control. A hard fought game by all led to a heart stopping game winner. With 1:10 left in play Fierheller and Moore combined once again. With a great set up pass by Moore, Fierheller, after a quick deke of a defenceman put the puck top shelf. The Novice Muskies shut down the Wildcats, led by a relentless Tyler Kyle, hemming them in their own end for the remainder of the game.

After the third game it is apparent the boys are "buying in " on hard back checking, tough in the corners play and sharp passing. This game was won by hard work and unselfish play by a complete hockey unit.

The Team travels to Cobourg Oct. 3rd. and the home opener takes place in Lindsay on Oct. 5th @12:30, when the Muskies will be ready to redeem themselves against Napanee. So bring your appetite for excitement down to the rink to see these awesome kids play Canada's game.
