Novice "BB" Mid-Season Special, 2nd place!
The Novice Rep team is growing in leaps and bounds these days. Their drive for excellence, and willingness to constantly adapt and learn set them up for a 7 game stretch for which the boys came out swinging and went 5-1-1!  Second place in the Lakeshore "A" league is where the Novice Muskies sit in the standings.

The team started racking up points on Oct. 20th in Pickering with a decisive 4-1 win over the Panthers. Some notable players in the game were Jax Radford and Blaze Selleck who have really stepped up their game with soft hands in the offensive zone. All the boys had a good laugh after learning a lesson about the unwritten rule of hockey: never mention the word shut-out on the bench, until the final buzzer has sounded!

Game 2 of 7 was a 11-0 drumming of the Ajax Knights on Oct 22nd. The Novice Reps passing was exceptional as the Knights rarely got the puck.

The 25th of Oct. saw another win for the Muskies. Whitby Blue came to the Lindsay Rec. Center and the Muskies punished them 5-1 with hard fore-checking by Kyle Sanderson and Mike Kennedy. The pair of wingers have really been stepping up their game - with Kennedy hard on the boards and Sanderson’s speed, toss in a hard skating centre man like Nate King who is relentless on the back check, and this line is a triple threat. The game was a well balanced smart effort.

The boys tasted defeat on Oct.26 as they traveled to Trenton and came out tired and sluggish against a hard hitting Quinte team. The final score was 6-1 and the boys knew that even if it was their 4th game in 6 nights they would have to dig deep as a day later the teams would meet again in Lindsay.

Oct. 27th, Pad 1 in Lindsay, The Lindsay Novice Muskies came out as a complete unit. They stuck to their game plan and showed they would not be dominated with physical play. Led by the defensive units of Karter Robertson/Cam McDermott and Tom Malcolm/Kadyn Goble, the Muskies played shut down "D" taking away the stretch pass, up the center and hard back-checking by all. The net mouth scrambles were vicious but the Muskies stood tall and strong. It ended in a 4-4 tie but the boys knew they played well and deserved the win as Quinte had a fluke goal. Riley Bolton minded the net well and you could see his confidence growing.

The Muskies played Cobourg in Lindsay on Nov. 2nd. The hometown boys had a decisive 4-0 victory. Ben Deschamps caused turnover after turnover, with his lightning like in-your-face style fore-check.  Jacob Moore continued his domination of the net and William Fierheller’s hard digging and defensive play led to shut down hockey at home. Bolton recorded the shut-out, as he easily controlled the pucks that made it through. The score wasn't indicative of the play as the Cobourg goalie saw a lot of rubber and made some great saves.

The 7th game was a 6-0, shut-out win once again, beating Pickering in their barn on Nov. 3rd. Goal highlights included an end to end rush by McDermott and a late game bullet by Tyler Kyle, top shelf no-less. The Muskies coaches were left next to speechless as not much had to be said  but "good game".

A complete passing game, impenetrable defense, unselfish team play and a note of unwavering confidence are what this team will take into the Orillia tournament starting Thursday Nov. 7th. High hopes abound for this group of young men who seem ready to take on all who step in their path.
