Halloween Candy Crash
Novice Teal took the ice in Bobcaygeon November 2nd

Halloween was a cold and stormy night and the kids were up late getting their goodies door to door.
They were on the ice 9 times in 12 days and the exhaustion was beginning to show.
Ryerson F was in the net for his 4th straight start and he made some huge saves to keep the game close throughout.
The team came out a little flat footed and the Sturgeon White team was fresh and faster than they were in our first meeting.
They took a quick 3-0 nothing lead by the beginning of the second period; the 2nd goal coming on a powerplay.
Sammy T brought us back on the scoreboard with a late goal in the 2nd that was set up by Owen D.
After this point the team woke up and began to play hard and strong and managed to take back control of the puck.
There were numerous opportunities with Owen V and Jarrett B moving in on breakaways, only to be stopped by Sturgeons goalie who put in a phenomenal performance for the day.
Griffin W, Ethan M, Josh D and Aiden all had great chances on goal and came within inches with 4 shots hitting the post.
Maguire D made a point to tell me before the game began that he had his skates sharpened and it showed; he was flying from corner to corner and end to end and fought for the puck at every chance he could get.
The defence also got tougher as the game went on and Josh G, Caleb A and Connor S made it difficult for the other team to get down the ice like they were in the first half of the game.
The boys played tough and hard and never gave up; even after Sturgeon took a 4-1 lead at the beginning of the 3rd..the kids kept skating, laughing and trying their best.
Near the end of the period, Ian K popped one over the goalies shoulder with assists from Josh D and Sammy T.
The team almost made it 4-3 with about a minute to go in the game with another post...the 5th post of the night.
Our kids were exhausted but dug down deep to keep themselves in the game and we came away with a very tough loss
The coaches were extremely proud of the kids; there were things that the team could improve upon from the game; however, the most important lesson was that they never gave up, they took back control of the game and managed to keep the game close.
The coaching staff was very proud of the way they handled themselves on the ice and on the bench.

There was an issue with a disagreement on a tripping/slashing call on one of our boys that was missed and the coaches were assessed a penalty that was served by Aiden G.
The safety of the kids is first and foremost and we expressed that to no avail.
Kudos to the boys and we will be ready to go Friday against Manvers at home.
