Tough weekend at home.
The Muskies suffered two tough loses this weekend at home.

The boys faced the always tough Whitby Wildcats for the first time this season at home on Saturday. It was very tight and physical game throughout the first two periods. The Wildcats went into the intermission with only a one goal lead. The third period began as the second ended with both teams battling hard for the control of the puck. Whitby took a two goal lead early in the third period but a little over a minute later Brayden McReelis drove to the net and put in his own rebound to make it a one goal game again. Jared Henley and Cole Selleck assisted on the goal. Unfortunately Whitby kept pressuring and the Muskies had difficulty clearly the puck in the third period. Whitby scored three more goals to put the game out of reach.
Although the scoreboard showed differently the game on the ice was very close for most of the game. If it was not for a few mistakes and an apparent lack of fitness the score would be a lot closer. Whitby is in first place and we competed with them and remained in the game for most of the three periods.

The Muskies second game of the weekend was a entirely different game. The muskies were ready for revenge against the Belleville Bulls on Sunday afternoon. The Muskies struggled to gain control of this game from the start. The Bulls seemed to mentally and physically take control from the first face off. The Bulls took the lead early in the second period and never really looked back. Although the defence corp of Tyler Lovering, Spencer Bolton, Griffin Ronald and Henry Stephenson was again solid and Gavin Gregory stopped a lot of rubber the Muskies could simply not create any offence. Penalties and mistakes hurt the team late in the game and the boys seem to lose their confidence as the minutes ticked away.
Although it was a tough lose there were positives. The team remained tough and matched the physical play of their opponents. Unfortunately as the game went on the lack of endurance of some members was evident and they were just not able to keep up.
Overall the coaching staff remains positive and proud of the progress that this team continues to make.
The Muskies face another tough opponent, Oshawa, at home on Thursday night.
