Weekend Tournament
The Muskies travelled to Prince Edward County to compete in their first tournament of the year. Although they did not win the tournament they did have some success and a lot of fun was had by kids and parents.

The Muskies began the tournament against a strong team from Deep River. The Muskies started off well and appeared to be there to win. Whether it was the long drive or excitement of the weekend the Muskies seemed to run out of gas and unfortunately couldn't recover in time to win the game.
The second game of the tournament was against the Belleville Bulls. As game time got closer goalie Gavin was dealing with a stomach issue. Whether it was nerves or gas, it was shot of pepto-bismol that cured the issue and got him back in the game. Gavin did not allow a puck in the net and the Muskies scored three and ended the first day at 1-1.
After a night that was less than quiet at the hotel the Muskies started day two with an late afternoon game against tournament host Prince Edward County Kings. The Kings were not very gracious host and seemly were looking to beat all they played. The Muskie were down early but were able to tie it up late in the second. The Kings unfortunately put two more in the net in the third to win the game. With the lose the Muskie would have to settle for a trip to the B championship.
After a nice team dinner and a couple games of euchre at the hotel the Muskie arrived ready to play. They would face the Belleville Bulls in the B final. Although they had beat them in day one the Bulls arrived ready to play. They came out hard. It was a very physical game. The Bulls got a quick goal and unfortunately the Muskies, although they had many chances, were not able to put the puck in the net. The muskies played to the end and really showed grit and determination the last 5 minutes of the game. The game ended 1-0.
It was great weekend and the team really came together as a unit. Parents and kids all had a great time and look forward the next tournament in December.
The Muskies next game is Wednesday night in Whitby.
