Fun at the tournament
The result may not have been what everyone had hoped for, but the boys all seemed to have some fun.

Game 1 of the Mariposa tournament saw the AtoMc Black Muskies battle had and hang on for a 3-3 tie.  Due to an unforeseen situation we had to have an emergency goalie replacement at the last minute, but were able to sub in one of our AP players to allow us to still play with 10 skaters.  Unfortunately due to the point system though we came away with less points than our opponents from Mariposa.
Game 2 was a different story.  We went into this game knowing that we were in for a tough battle after seeing that our opponents had beaten the Mariposa team we tied in the morning, by a score of 14-0!  We prepared for the worst, and hoped for the best.  The boys battled hard through some tough situations and some somewhat (at times) questionable officiating (receiving 6 penalties to only 2 for the other team) while coming away on the losing end of a 7-0 score, which in our opinion was a really good game based on the 14-0 shelling they had given their first opponent.  This loss left us in 3rd place in our grouping, meaning that we would play the third place team from the other group for the C championship on Sunday.
Game 3 saw us face a team from Penetang, who in their own Local League had not yet won a game, possibly giving us a little bit of overconfidence going into the game.  After going down 1-0 in the first period, that was quickly erased on a nice face-off win and goal by Ian.  Unfortunately that would be the only goal the Muskies would score in their 3-1 loss to the visitors from Penetang, allowing them to earn their first win of the season.
The boys all played well in all three games, and the coaching staff was proud of them, there were a lot of positives, but also one recurring thing that continues to need some work....offsides.  In the lobby afterwards it was heard many times by some of the Penetang parents that that was the best game their team played all season so far, so good for them, they earned the victory on this day.
Well done boys, it doesn't hurt to lose a couple of games in a tournament, now we get to re-focus and get back to work in our regular season games.
