Game 25 vs Mariposa
Sunday would be the 6th meeting of the season between Mariposa and Lindsay.
Head to head, both teams had an equal record of 2-2-1...so all in the arena knew this would be a closely played game.

The puck dropped at about 10:50 am and the play (as expected) was back and forth with no team managing any great scoring chances due to stingy defence.
Mariposa did not have their main goalie in net but our Muskies could not break past the Lightning defence to get any good shots on net.
The Lindsay defence was just as stingy and the Mariposa forwards were unable to penetrate our zone and therefore, their scoring opportunities were very limited as well.
With 3:20 left to play in the 1st period..Sammy T. fired the puck over to Owen V. who got a shot on net which was saved by the Mariposa goalie.  Josh G. grabbed the rebound and slid the puck into the net before the Lightning goalie could recover to make a second save.  1-0 Muskies!!!!
The 2nd period was much like the 1st with the play going back and forth and scoring chances once again being at a premium.
With 5:06 left in the 2nd...Mariposa parked two in front of the net and the winger fired the puck from the corner.  The rebound went to the Lightning player on the left side of the net and he tipped it in.  1-1
From this point on it seemed that our Muskies confidence dissipated and the Mariposa forwards began to control the play.
1:16 after they scored their first goal...Lightning struck again and took the lead in the game.  Once again, they parked two men in front and waited for a rebound.  2-1 Mariposa
Mariposa managed to fire one more past our Muskies before the final buzzer sounded..the end result on the scoreboard was 3-1
We started out fantastic..our forwards moved the puck up the ice and passed the puck well to maintain control.
After Mariposa took the lead it seemed as though our Muskies were deflated and they abandoned the passing and their skating was more sluggish than had been.
Later that afternoon, an additional ice time for practice was obtained and most of the team was present to learn some new skills to improve their game.
The coaching staff had a good conversation with the team and the practice was much needed and the kids seemed to regain their confidence and were smiling in the dressing room.

We have a rematch tomorrow against Manvers (@ 5:30) and our Muskies will be ready to compete!!!!!

We also play Mariposa again next Tuesday in Oakwood to once again even the season head to head record.

GO MUSKIES GO!!!!!!!!!!!!
