Peterborough Liftlock tournament - a great start yet disappointing end for the Atoms
It was a snow day as the Muskies made their way to Peterborough for game #1 of the Liftlock tournament last Friday afternoon. Spirits high for both players and fans, they took to the ice against Parry Sound.  Although no action in either net for almost 2 full periods, there was plenty of action on the ice as both teams made the effort to control the puck.  With less than 2 minute to go in the second, a puck was lobbed into the......

Muskie net.  True to Muskie determination, only a couple minutes into the 3rd period, the score was tied, the goal going to #88 Alex Cyr and the assists going to #17 Wyatt Marsh and  #59 Rylan Moore.  The Muskies couldn't catch a break to edge ahead for the lead and the scoreboard remained 1-1.  Excellent goal tending by #31 Jack Dermedy making some very challenging saves!

Game #2 on Saturday morning, the Muskies faced and defeated the Stirling Blues 5-1.  Lindsay once again found themselves down after the first goal shortly into period 2 of the game though and wasn't able to even up the score until very late into the 2nd period, scored unassisted by #88 Alex Cyr.  Finally getting some momentum behind them, the Muskies put 4 more in the net during period 3.  Goals by #88 Alex Cyr (2), #17 Wyatt Marsh, #77 Tyler Perrin and an assist going to #88 Alex Cyr.  Ending on a high note, they turned their focus toward Game #3.  Congratulations to Alex on your Ha-trick!

Game  #3, the Muskies hit the ice against Pembroke.  The scoreboard remained 0-0 until seconds left in the first period when, the Muskie net was first to see the puck.  Shortly into the second another 2 goals before the Muskies were able to score #88 Alex Cyr, #34 Jack Evans (assist) and #12 Aidan Graves (assist) making it 3-1 for Pembroke.  #31 Jack Dermedy faced a tough game well.  Not able to turn the game around, the Muskies were defeated 5-1 ending their chances of moving on.  A disappointing loss and end to a very hopeful day, the Muskies headed home now looking ahead to playoffs.

We are proud of this team, how far they have come and how well they have done this season!  Now skate into playoffs with everything you've got!  Let's Go Muskies!!!!!!!
