First playoff weekend - it's a tied series..........
After Saturday and Sunday games against Prince Edward County, each team is sitting with 2 points.
Saturday the series began in Lindsay on home ice. PEC scored a few minutes into the first period. Not being able to spend much time in the PEC end, the Muskies finally had their scoring opportunity in the second period. Scoring the goal was #88 Alex Cyr and the assists went to #19 Caitlyn Johnston and #77 Tyler Perrin. They held PEC into the third period and in an unfortunate turn of events, PEC scored a shorthanded goal with only a few minutes on the clock. Time was against the Muskies and the clock ran out before they could even up the score, and were defeated 2-1.
On Sunday, the Muskies made their way to Wellington for game 2. Into the first period, PEC put 2 on the scoreboard and kept the lead until the third, no doubt adding a level of frustration for the Muskies. Finally, the effort began to pay off a few minutes into the third period as the team stepped up and the first goal was scored by #14 Maguire Dietrich, with assists going to #12 Aidan Graves and #9 Ian Kennedy. This fired them up, and keeping the puck in the PEC end, scored another goal within moments (#88 Alex Cyr - G, #77 Tyler Perrin - A). The stands erupted with cheering and 8 mins to go in the 3rd........great excitement and energy in the air......and with just under 5 mins on the clock, a beautiful set up for #19 Caitlyn Johnston by # 77 Tyler Perrin and #88 Alex Cyr and she confidently put the puck in the net. Goal tending by #31 Jack Dermedy over the weekend could only be described as rock solid!!! The Muskies held their lead for the remaining few very long minutes and celebrated a victory against a tough team!
