Playoffs Round 1 - Muskies defeat PEC
Saturday was Game 5 - both Lindsay and PEC in the same position, a win was the only option.........
As both teams took to the ice, it could be anyone's game and both teams wanted it! The first period remained scoreless until only 2 minutes on the clock when the Muskies finally were able to put one in the net on their 4th power play of the period (though they had 2 penalty kills of their own).
Less than 2 minutes into the 2nd period..............................
and the Muskies scored to double their lead. Scored by #14 Maguire Dietrich who slipped out of the penalty box and skated hard to the net from a pass #34 Jack Evans. PEC kept pouring on the pressure and scored on a penalty kill yet the Muskies pushed back. They held on with overlapping penalties and down by 2 players, PEC pulling their goalie yet at the end of the 2nd, the score remained 2-1.
The 3rd period was intense! The Muskies were unable to increase their lead through 2 power plays then suffered a penalty in just over 2 minutes left to go in the game - all fans on the edge of their seats, and PEC's goalie pulled, the Muskie gave it their all, doing everything they could to keep it out of their end! The buzzer went, gloves were thrown in the air and the Muskies went to gather around their Goalie #31 Jack Dermedy who had a solid performance and made some incredible saves!
Well Done Muskies, we are so proud! Let's take this to the next round! FEAR THE FISH!
