Playoffs - Round 2!
The first two games against Napanee proved nothing short of nail biting excitement!
Game #1 and the stands were filled with fans to cheer the Muskies on - friends, family and other Muskie teams! Thank you for your support!
The first period was scoreless until the last minute and the Stars scored. Working hard to put it in Napanee's end, the Muskies tied it up a few minutes into the 2nd period, and kept skating hard. Their relentlessness paid off and they moved the score ahead to 2-1 at the end of the 2nd.
Taking some hard knocks........
the Muskies stood strong and held the Stars into the 3rd period. The Star tied the game and the Muskies fought back and maintained a tied game. Overtime - on the edge of our seats and it was a battle. The Muskies were not giving up this game and worked so hard almost ending it on a few close opportunities. Superb goal tending by #31 Jack Dermedy who on more than one occasion kept us in the game! Tied after overtime, 1-1!
Game 2 in Napanee, our Muskies were ready to go, they were fired up and hit the ice with confidence. The Muskieds made every effort to match the Stars and after an exhausting first period, the score remained 0-0. Only moments into the 2nd, their determination paid off and #59 Rylan Moore scored from a pass by #17 Wyatt Marsh. Late into the 2nd, the Stars scored 2 quick goals. The Muskies remained focused and pushed hard. By half way through the 3rd, the score was 4-1, and by the time the period was over, the Muskies decreased that lead by one. The number of shots on Muskie Goal tender #31 Jack Dermedy and who made save after save far outnumbered shots on the Napanee net. Last 2 minutes of the game, the Muskies battled with an extra player on the ice.......unltimatley ending with 5-2 loss, the puck going into the empty net.
Such great effort and determination! And how about those fans! Didn't stop cheering those Muskies on. We are proud of you! Next game is home ice! Let do this!
A special mention #12 Aidan Graves who in Game #1 took a very hard puck to the head. Aidan, we wish you a speedy recovery and miss you out there on the ice!
