Surviving the Lightning Strike: Muskies vs. Mariposa
Although not thought to be a common occurance, lightning has been known to strike during the colder months, and the Lindsay Muskies Atom White team was prepared to face Mariposa's electrical charge last Saturday afternoon, November the 11th.

The start of the game saw 2 teams battle furiously to keep the puck out of their end. The Muskies pushed hard but found it difficult to best the Mariposa goaltender. With Madison Raymond #16 and Nathan Wooldridge #15 systematically working the blue line, the odds of Lightning striking early was rare, resulting in a scoreless first period.

The electricity continued into the 2nd; as Lindsay's shots on goal increased, so did the intensity on the ice. After a few close calls, a power play goal by Mariposa finally put a mark on the board. Following that, the plays moved mostly to the neutral zone as both teams regrouped. Near the end, Nathan Sanderson #29 reset the tone of the game with back to back one-timers that narrowly missed the net, but opened up the momentum for the 3rd.

Mariposa sensed the polarity change in the beginning of the final period after Devon Moynes #8 tied things up, 1-1. Despite the Lightning's efforts to stop them, the Muskies repeatedly got back up and scored another at the 5 1/2 minute mark. They held that lead until the end of the game, with a final 2-1 score over Mariposa.

Player of the game was awarded to Devon Moynes #8 for his tenactiy and determination to score against a goalie who wasn't giving in easily. Congratulations Devon!

The Lindsay Muskies Atom White team takes to the road tonight, Thursday Nov.16, when they play their 2nd game against Brock Wild Green in Cannington at 6pm.
