Couldn't Catch the Muskies: Lindsay White vs the Kawartha Coyotes
As food becomes scarce with the colder weather, the Coyotes must expand their hunting grounds, and in the twilight hours of Monday December 18th, they found themselves prowling around Lindsay’s waters, hoping to catch some big fish!

After a close exhibition game near the beginning of the season that resulted in a 4-4 tie, the Kawartha Coyotes came hungry for a win. The Lindsay crew knew right away that they had to stay alert and play smart. Just
before the 4 minute mark in a fast paced 1st period, Drake Robinson-West #9, opened the game with the first goal for the Muskies. Defenceman Sean Hayman #17 quickly followed up with another, and the period ended 2-0 Lindsay.

That wasn’t enough to scare away the Coyotes and they came out in the 2nd period, just as tough as the 1st. This time, the Muskies were keen to their ways, as Ethan Peterson #14 and Sean Hayman #17 demonstrated gap control that was on cue, cutting off the lanes and taking it to the boards. Madison Raymond #16 assisted her fellow defencemen’s efforts with her fast reactions on the blue line, keeping the puck in the Kawartha zone. Two more unanswered goals from power forward Nathan Sanderson #29 turned a 2 goal lead into 4 by the end of the 2nd period.

The 3rd period kicked off with 3 more fast goals from the Lindsay White team but the Coyotes kept up their persistence, slyly scouting for cracks in the icy pond, looking for the right moment to make their move. Unfortunately, the few times that they tried to strike, Muskies goalie Alexis Kostashuk #1 was sharp on her game and shut them down each time. Lindsay pushed the play back into the Kawartha zone once again and as the clock wound down, a stellar performance by the entire Muskies team translated into a 7-0 shutout, and forced the Coyotes to forage for food elsewhere… for now.

Congratulations to Drake Robinson-West #9, player of the game! Your quick and agile puck movement makes you a vital part of the team’s offence! Scoring 2 goals and an assist against your former classmates was both courageous and impressive!

After a restful holiday season, the Lindsay Muskies Atom White team travels to Woodville to face off against the Hurricanes at on Sunday January 7th in their first game of 2018!
