Shooting Stars: Muskies vs Millbrook
The Muskies Atom White team played among the stars when Millbrook made an evening trip to the Lindsay Rec Centre on Monday Feb.5th.

The Stars protected their zone fiercely in the first period and the Muskies didn’t anticipate the solid barricade, so they needed to adjust their strategy early in the game. The changes proved successful when Sean Hayman #17 took centre position and scored the first goal late in the period, with help from his defensive ally Madison Raymond #16. Drake Robinson-West #9 aided in another one shortly after, then opened the 2nd period with a goal of his own. Millbrook fought back by scoring their first goal of the game and quickly revamped their defenses. Lindsay’s Ross Kostashuk #2 battled for the puck behind their net, but the Muskies couldn't get past the Stars goaltender.

Straight out of the faceoff, Millbrook shot through the Lindsay zone and scored another for their team, closing the gap on the Muskies lead. It would be their final one of the game though as the Atom White crew went to work clearing their zone and moving the puck forward. There was fast passing in the 3rd as Nathan Sanderson #29 scored (assisted by Jaxson Leith #5), then assisted a goal from Ethan Peterson #14, and then scored another one, assisted by his goaltender Alexis Kostashuk #1! The Stars were struck and in an attempt to fend off their opponent, they found themselves shorthanded, but successfully killed the penalty. They felt comfortable in their defenses by the end of the period, but nobody saw that last goal coming when Nathan Wooldridge #15 picked up the puck in the Lindsay zone and skated from end to end with it in what will be one of the year’s most memorable goals! With 49 seconds left on the clock, he ended the game and the Muskies Atom White team won 7-2, clinching their spot for 3rd place in the league standings.

Congratulations Nathan Wooldridge #15, player of the game! With increasing confidence to step out of your comfort zone you definitely demonstrated your competitive nature!

Also, congratulations to Jaxson Leith #5 who was the winner of the team “assist challenge” for this game!
