Playoff Game #5: Muskies Atom White vs Muskies Atom Teal
For their final game against each other this year, fans packed the Lindsay Rec Centre when the Muskies Atom White team went head to head against their hometown rivals Muskies Atom Teal on Tuesday March 6th.

After a brief 2 day rest, the White team felt ready to take on Teal in their 5th game of the Atom B playoff series. Once again, they opened the game with the first goal but found it difficult to manage any more as Teal’s defensive core, knowing what they had to do, quickly shifted gears and held back their nemesis for 7 nail-biting minutes. Teal’s Isaac Stuckey #6 and Ethan Semrau #14 bravely fought White’s power forwards to the boards just short of the neutral zone, playing both offensively and defensively for their team. In the last seconds of the period though, Drake Robinson-West #9 surprised them with an unassisted breakthrough goal and ended the period, 2-0.

Atom White’s Nathan Sanderson #29 put a 3rd one in the Teal net to kick off the 2nd period. The game continued in the Teal zone and Madison Raymond #16 kept her eye on the play and the puck in her opponent’s end. Ross Kostashuk #2 battled hard in the corner but Teal’s Quinn Fraser #11 wasn’t giving up the fight and shut him down, stopping his chances at passing it up front. Quinn quickly cleared the puck but it was picked up in the neutral zone by White’s Jaxon Leith #5. Teal’s Isabella Stuckey #2 stole it from him but couldn't complete the pass as White’s defenceman Ethan Peterson #14 had already anticipated her move. Teal’s Connor Swann #17 then took another shot at White’s net but Alexis Kostashuk #1 wanted badly to hold onto her growing shutout opportunity and pounced on the puck.

Teal worked feverishly into the 3rd period to resist White’s attack but midway through, Keira Watson #11 was able to break in and best their goaltender Keegan Dunn, scoring another one for her team. Teal was consistent in their efforts to score throughout the game and Lucas McIntyre #7 picked up a cleared puck from teammate Ethan Semrau #14, with White’s Keira Watson #11 hot on his tail. He was cut short in the neutral zone by White’s Drake Robinson-West #9 as he stole the puck and executed a perfect pass to fellow forward Ethan Thompson #6 who scored the final goal of the game.

The Lindsay Muskies Atom White team finished their 5th playoff game with a 7-0 shutout win, pushing their series points tally to 9; just 1 point away from Brock Wild Red, who they move ahead to play next in Game #6 for the B Championship in Beaverton on Tuesday March 20th at 6:30pm!
