Muskies Atom Black Stay Out of the Red in Win Over Kawartha Coyotes
On Wednesday Nov.7th at 5:30pm the Muskies were back home at the LRC to face off against the Kawartha Red team, bringing home their 2nd shutout against the Coyotes. Ahead of the game, the Muskies announced their 2018-2019 team Captain Devon Moynes #8 and Alternates Drake Robinson-West #9 & Nathan Wooldridge #17.

The Coyotes hit the ice hard in the first period with several break through attempts into the Muskies zone. After a sluggish start for the Lindsay squad, Muskies forward Maxx Cavanagh #10 picked up a pass from the neutral zone and with a shot from the low slot scored his first goal of the season and the first goal of the game for his team. Kawartha quickly stepped up their defensive efforts and had the Muskies on their heels for the remainder of the first period as it ended 1-0.

It was anyone’s game going into the 2nd. The Coyotes stood steadfast in front of their goaltender but a rebound shot early in the 2nd from Graham Thompson #3 earned him his first of the season and the second of the game for his team. With some fantastic teamwork & sportsmanship, and his efforts in the neutral zone, a natural hat trick from Muskies Isaac Stuckey #15 advanced Lindsay’s tally giving them a comfortable lead.

Into the 3rd period, Kawartha endured the fight against their fishy foes and proved that they were still a force to be reckoned with; the play continued back and forth with some fast passes across the ice. The Atom Black team then moved Sydney Purdy #2 with Captain Devon Moynes #8 into defensive roles to assist their team in holding the Coyotes back. A few quick goals near the end of the 3rdone of them from the high slot from defenseman Andrew Shows #7, sealed the deal for the Muskies as they overtook the Kawartha Red team in their second shutout in a row, 8-0.

Congratulations Maxx Cavanagh #10 on receiving the AtoMc Golden Moments Player of the Game award for your perseverance and hard work in tonight’s game which resulted in scoring the first goal of the game and your first goal of the season!
