Struck by Lightning...Twice?
On Tuesday November 5 and Friday November 8 the Muskies would have a home and home battle against rival Mariposa Lightning in what would be a pair of nail biters.

Tuesday night the Fish were in Little Britain to take on the Lightning. The Muskies would strike first when #90 Corbin Allison beat the Mariposa netminder. #6 Keegan Avery would assist on the goal. In the second period Allison would return the favour as he and #15 Nate White would assist on an Avery goal that would give the Muskies a 2-0 lead heading into the third period. In the third period #14 Charlie Baxter would add to the Muskies' lead when he potted a powerplay goal assisted by #19 Kennedy Phillips and #91 Jack Fagan. Mariposa would cut into the Muskie lead when they scored on a powerplay and then shortly after added a shorthanded marker to make it a 1 goal game with a few minutes to play. The Muskies were handed a penalty with 1:30 remaining to put Mariposa on the powerplay. The Lightning would pull their goalie and would keep the pressure on the Fish while playing 6 on 4, firing shot after shot and finally with 0.7 left on the clock would tie the game up. It was heartbreaking for the Muskies and they were looking to come out and learn from their sloppy third period when they got their shot at revenge just a few days later.

On Friday the Muskies hosted the Lightning on the back end of their home and home. Goaltender #29 Charlie Ruston was sensational from start as he was tested early and often. The Lightning were all over to the Muskies in the first period, outshooting and outplaying the Fish but the lone Muskie shot of the period happened to be a goal by #91 Jack Fagan that would send his team into intermission with a 1-0. In the second period the Lightning would take advantage of a sluggish group of Fish when they finally solved Ruston to knot the game up at 1 apiece. Later in the period the Lightning would again strike to take a 2-1 lead until #87 Isaac Minor took the puck from the ensuing faceoff and took it in all alone to tie the game back up at 2. The Lightning would continue to pressure hard and Charlie Ruston would turn them away again and again until the dying seconds of the game when #14 Charlie Baxter would flip the script on the Lightning by batting home a loose puck with 4.3 seconds left in mad scramble in front of the Lightning net. Baxter’s goal would tie the season series between the two teams at one win apeice with the teams tying their other regular season game and a preseason exhibition. The two teams will play one more time later in the season.
