LMHA Budget, Registration and Forging our Path Forward
Submitted By MaryAnne Wooldridge on Thursday, June 11, 2020
Message to Lindsay Minor Hockey Community:

I hope this message finds all of you well.  The Lindsay Minor Hockey Executive Committee has been working to establish a budget that met our mandate - "provide the most opportunity for growth and improvement at the lowest possible cost" .  Our Executive has also been working towards the onset of registration.  We are ready to open registration.  We are accepting registrations, however, we will not accept payment until permitted to do so by OMHA.

Please select "money transfer" option in payment. Payment plans will be presented once we receive approval to accept registration money.  I want to thank our executive for their commitment to these tasks during these uncertain times.  You will see that we have added some flexibility to our payments this season.  We understand the financial burden this global pandemic has placed on everyone.  We want to work with you.
You will notice registration costs have increased slightly this season.  The reason for this increase is multi-faceted.  First, costs for ice have increased over time and we must adjust registration to align with this increase.  Secondly, over the past few seasons LMHA has done very little in the area of fundraising.  Last season, with the exception of the raffle draw and 2 jamboree tournaments, fundraising initiatives did not exist.  Last season, sponsorship money was solicited whereas 2 seasons ago it was not.  We acknowledge that we have room to grow in both areas, however, now is not the time to expect this to happen.  Our budget was developed knowing that fewer opportunities for sponsorship and fundraising will exist.
You will also notice that we will no longer be accepting cash or cheque payments. This year you will have the option to pay by credit card or etransfer (money order).  You will also have 2 options of deferred payment plans.  We want to make registration easier and more flexible for you and us.
If your child plans on attending AAA tryouts, please register for LMHA, check the "money transfer" option (e-transfer) and then notify [email protected] of your intentions to tryout.  We will be able to help you through this process.  You will have to register to receive any NRP or Permission to skate forms.  A payment schedule can be worked out between us.
If our Minor Hockey season is delayed, shortened, lessened in anyway registration will be at a pro-rated amount.  We will be transparent with this process.
Our budget also will highlight significant savings in a number of areas.  We reduced our expenses by reducing the number of locker rentals, cancelling phone contracts and halting any reimbursement for phone, internet or mileage for any executive member.
We have also placed an increased urgency in the accountability and routine checks of revenue and expenses.  To be clear: we will be very vigilant in following up with those who have not paid for hockey.  We will be supportive and will make every attempt to be flexible and to assist your family, however, we will strictly enforce a "no pay - no play" policy.
Please click on the link below for registration information.  Further, please click on the budget link for a summary of the proposed 2020/2021 budget, approved by our executive but still requires approval at the Annual General Meeting.
Lastly, please click on the link below for updated information from the OMHA and Hockey Canada.  We do not know how or when the season will begin but we do know it will look differently when we return.  We are committed to keeping you informed as we learn more.
We are looking forward to a successful 2020/2021 season, however, that may look.  We are committed to working with you and to keep you informed as best as possible.
If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.
