OHF Open Boarders Announcement
A New Era for Minor Hockey in Lindsay: Embracing Change with Community Spirit

On December 17, 2024, the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) announced a groundbreaking
change to the structure of minor hockey across the province. Starting with the 2025/26 season,
representative-level players U10 and above will have the freedom to choose where they play,
regardless of their home address. Local League players will also retain the flexibility to register
with the program of their choice. This shift represents one of the most significant
transformations in Ontario minor hockey history, bringing exciting opportunities for players,
families, and associations.
The Lindsay Minor Hockey Association (LMHA) embraces this new chapter with enthusiasm
and a commitment to our core values of community, development, and excellence. For
decades, LMHA has been a pillar of hockey in the Kawartha Lakes region, providing not only
outstanding player development but also fostering strong community connections.
As we move forward, LMHA remains steadfast in delivering exceptional experiences for players
and families, including:
Celebrating Our Hockey Community: Through events like our beloved annual Muskies
   Day.
Enhanced Player Development: Offering skill-building sessions for players and goalies
   with expert instructors.
Mentorship Opportunities: Welcoming our “Junior A” Muskies players to support on-ice
practice, skill sessions, as well as them attending through social events.
Hosting High-Caliber Events: Organizing weekend tournaments at our top-tier twin-
   pad facility.
Giving Back to Our Community: Supporting local initiatives through events and
   financial contributions.
While this change brings challenges, it also provides an unparalleled opportunity for LMHA to
grow and strengthen our reputation as a premier destination for minor hockey in the Kawartha
Lakes region. We invite all current players and new players, from near and far to join us in
building an inclusive, supportive, and community-oriented program.
We invite everyone to learn more about this new era in minor hockey. Join us for our Annual
General Meeting on February 6th at 6:30 PM
in the Community Meeting Room (Fish Pond) at
the Lindsay Recreation Complex.
In the meantime, if you have questions or would like to discuss these changes, please reach out
to Casey Deschamps, LMHA President, at [email protected].
With your support, we’re confident that this change will lead to growth, success, and lifelong
memories for our players. Together, let’s continue to build the future of hockey in Lindsay.
