Championship Weekend
Great News everyone! Hard work, positive sportsmanship, and great teamwork were all rewarded this past weekend at the Mariposa Novice Hockey Tournament. Andrew Smith provided decisive speed and deftly passes from out of the corners and behind the net, while his counterpart Jack Newton displayed great hockey sense, reliable positional play, and skillful passing plays. Nolan Bruno helped to set the standard for hustle and digging along the boards, he even chipped in with a back-breaking championship goal.
In the first 2 games the team started off slow, but as the game went along their play was all Muskie hockey.
They found themselves in the championship game after winning the first two games. What did they do next? Well, they just came out like a hurricane and that hurricane lasted for three 10 minute periods. Every single player did an outrageous job that game. Special mention must be given to the hard-nosed, superb, shut-down defense provided by Caleb Legere and Tyson Forget.
Caleb was rock solid, and continually frustrated the opponents with his creative stick work and relentless pursuit of the puck. Tyson was always finding an open teammate to pass to coming out of our zone and even had time to be a key contributor on offense.
Tonight, the team kept up their impressive play with a victory over Kawartha Novice. Well done boys. The challenge is to get a little better each game and to continue to play as a TEAM.
A thank you goes out to all of our parents, who have been very supportive of the team and caring of one another.
