Friday night's all right!
Heading down to Manvers for a 9:30pm game on a Friday night in a snowstorm is certainly not the ideal thing to do, but, since Lindsay Teal beat them in the last meeting there (exhibition game), it was a game that was being looked forward to in order to break out of the mini slump.
Things were looking a little dicey before the game when we found out one player would not be there, another was going to be late because of work and weather, and another player limps in with a sprained ankle and brand new skates (because of a broken blade in the previous game - in which he played the entire game with that broken blade!). But, by the time the game got started we were sitting with 9 skaters ready to rock and roll.
The game certainly did not start out the way a team wanting to end a losing streak would like, when just 18 seconds into the game they find themselves looking at a 1-0 deficit! However, showing the poise and resiliency that they have many times so far this season, Teal certainly did not give up, instead, just 34 seconds later the game was tied on a great effort by Brock to put the puck home. Before the end of the first period, the visiting team would see Mike C grab a goal, followed by Brock's 2nd of the game and period to take the 3-1 lead.
The second period was tight until almost the 6 minute mark when Mike C netted his 2nd of the game, followed quickly by Liam getting his first of the game, to make it a 5-1 game heading into the flood.
The third period saw more back and forth action with some roughness thrown in, with both sides taking a few penalties. With just under 6 minutes remaining, Liam managed to dig his way in to pot his 2nd goal of the game as well. The final goal of the game came with a bit of a scramble around the Lindsay net and the home team getting their 2nd goal of the game with 1:35 left on the clock.
All in all a good effort and result by Teal to head into tomorrow's home game against Brock.
