Tournament Pool "B" Champs
Saturday March 22 - Game #1
0645hrs and on the road to Omemee after Mother Nature threw yet anther wrench into a hopeful glimpse of Spring.  Roads were completely covered under several cm of snow, and its was dark.  Kids were still rubbing their eyes as they filed into the dressing rooms (some being carried in!).  Lindsay Mite White was against Kawartha White for Game 1.  Not sure if it was the early morning, tired kids, newly sharpened skates, or extra slippery ice, but the first part of Period 1 was a whole bunch of slips, pileups, fancy feet and ending in a heap!  Both team slowly found their groove and part way into Period 2

Lindsay White scored the first goal (a 3 player effort).  By midway through the 2nd period, Lindsay scored another goal and Kawartha scored their first goal moments later.  Lindsay put one more in before the period was out.  Period 3 was in Lindsay's favour, with 3 more goals and a final score of 6-1.  There was some great passing, puck handling and saves by our awesome goaltender!

Saturday March 22 - Game #2
Lindsay White faced the Kawartha Red and took a 3 goal lead in period 1, and with seconds to go, Kawartha score their first goal.  In the second period, White stayed ahead by 3 goals and kept that lead into the third and ended it with a final score of 9-5.  There was again the effort and display of teamwork in so many areas (passing, defence, playing positions, goaltending......).  Winning Game #2 meant playing the final game on Sunday and the Mites, not to mention families, coaches, trainers and manager were pumped!

Sunday March 23 - Game #3
Lindsay White were facing their opponents from Game #1 yesterday - Kawartha White......and this game would prove to be nothing like yesterday!  Period 1 - almost scoreless until the last couple minutes and Lindsay put one in the net sending the fans off their seats not to mention the players fist pumps and sticks held high in the air that we have come to expect after a goal!  But if we thought we could breathe easy at all, we were sorely mistaken.  Kawartha had stepped it up this game from the day before, there was no doubt!  Very quickly into the 2nd, the score was tied, but Lindsay kept at the puck and fought to get it in the net to be up 1 again and moments later, the game changed and fast!  Kawarthamade some great plays, breakaways and shots on goal.  They scored 3 times leaving Lindsay down by 2 going into the 3rd.  The determination on both sides was incredible as the fight for the puck was on.  Half way into the 3rd when it was beginning to seem unlikely, a fine play by Lindsay that ended in a goal.  Everyone was up and cheering, this was the kickstart they needed.  A minute later and.........scored, it was tied!  The stands had come alive.  In the last 2 minutes of the game these kids on both teams were putting their hearts into it and then there it was, a goal, but in Lindsay's net - although a sinking feeling, it was already one of the best games we had played, no matter what happened!  16 seconds later, the Lindsay line worked together,  took that puck up the ice and not only scored to tie it, but held that tie till the buzzer!  This meant overtime and a reminder to most of the parents to breathe!  It cannot get any more awesome than to go into overtime in a game final!  4 minutes were on the clock and likely to be the longest 4 minutes ever!  41 seconds in, Lindsay managed to get the control of the puck and over to #2 NolanButtar who skated hard and carefully calculated his shot - It was in!  # 7 Jack Thurstonhad the assist!  There was not a person left sitting in the stands, and it was a fantastic moment!  This was the most exciting and heart palpitating games we have played and congratulations goes to both teams for an amazing effort!

Appreciation goes to the time/score keeper that announced the games during the tournament, it was great to listen to and watch the players as they heard their names!
