Aiming For the Stars: Muskies vs Millbrook
With the earth's axis tilted slightly away from the sun, the Stars still shone through the brightness of a chilly mid-day in Millbrook as they awaited the arrival of the Lindsay Muskies Atom White team on Saturday December 16th.

It was a rough start in the 1st period for the Millbrook team as their goaltender stood on his head in an attempt to fend off the meteor shower of shots from the Muskies forwards. A fast first goal from Nathan Sanderson #29 and a quick tip-in from Ross Kostashuk #2 a few minutes later started the barrage. A goal from Drake Robinson-West #9 with consistent assistance from Tristan Shiers #10 and defenceman Nathan Wooldridge #15 kept the momentum going. The Stars fought hard to hold back their opponents but another goal from Ethan Thompson #6 (his first of the year!) would add to the 7-0 lead for the Muskies at the end of the first.

The game tamed down a bit in the 2nd period as a short Muskies bench felt a tough pushback from the determined Millbrook Stars team. Lindsay's forward lines took turns falling back to aid their tiring defensive line and that little bit of rest was just what they needed. Ethan Peterson #14 added another to the tally for his team, capitalizing on the only power play of the game.

Into the 3rd period, despite the lead, Keira Watson #11 had a schoolyard score to settle with the Millbrook netminder and went for a long shot from centre ice, but their defence wasn't allowing it and stopped the play by getting infront of the puck just beyond the blue line. The Millbrook bench sensed the pressure building in their core after a brief stoppage of play and when the whistle blew, their offence burst into the Muskies zone. Startled by the explosion, Devon Moynes #8 attempted to split the supernova that was the Stars offence but he wasn't able to stop the force alone. With less than 1.5 minutes to go, Millbrook was able to crash the net and sink their first goal of the season! The cheers from fans echoed throughout the arena and the game ended with smiles and a 'win' for both teams.

Congratulations goes to player of the game, Nathan Wooldridge #15, for momentarily stepping out of his comfort zone and into an offensive position for this game, as well as scoring his 1st goal of the season with a solid long shot from the point in the 2nd period!
