Glad that's over!
If there is one good thing about the coming end of the hockey season, its knowing that we will not have to play the CYO White team (in particular) again.  When the ref and linesmen come and talk to you before the game and tell you that they know this is the chippy, aggressive team, and tell you how they are the Oshawa rep team that dropped back (like no one else in Three Counties can tell), you know you are going to be in for a battle.  My biggest concern was that all of my players stayed safe and didn't get any suspensions in our final regular season game before playoff scheduling tomorrow morning.

For the CYO parents that I know do read my entries (and yes I heard you say "be careful because you never know what he'll write in his .....), I hope that you know that for the most part, particularly in Midget, your over-stacked rep player team is not wanted in Three Counties.  Walking in and out of the arena behind your players, although courteous at the doors by holding them for us, carrying their Oshawa Generals matching hockey bags, certainly tells everyone that those boys should not be playing in what is essentially a house league system.
As for the game itself, I must say that it was one of the best reffed games of the season as far as allowing the kids to play, although yes, there were still some penalties that should have been called that weren't, but you get that in every game.  It was definitely the best reffed game that we have played in Oshawa/Whitby since the CYO joined TC.
The game was most certainly not the one of the highlight reel type for our team, but then again, why should we worry too much about that when it was an absolutely mean nothing in the standings game for us.  We finished the 2nd half of the season right where we wanted to be, on top of the Three County teams (excluding the CYO teams of course since they can't play for the "A" championship anyway).
The game was lopsided score wise, with us losing 8-2, but I'll tell you, the best part was watching the way the CYO goalie had his little tantrum after going behind the net to gather the puck and attempt to do another one of his hotshot puck clearings and instead throw it right at Connor who gathered the puck in and fired it into the wide open net as the goalie attempted to dive back across realizing he just made a HUGE error.  To then watch him lie prone on the ice with his face buried for about 30 seconds before getting up and slamming his stick against the net.  I think Mastercard would call that moment "Priceless".  The second goal was quite nice too as Wil battle hard on his shift, brought the puck in over the line on the left side and wired on past the stunned net-minder (who subsequently got pulled after that goal, not sure if he got pulled for throwing another tantrum or just because he let in two goals, either way it was great to get a couple past him this time.
We will now move on to schedule a playoff round robin with Lindsay Black and Manvers for a chance to then play for the A championship trophy.
Well done guys!  Final record of 22 - 11 - 2 (20 - 5 - 2 when you take out the CYO games)  Not bad at all!
