Mite Tournament "A" Finalists
Saturday March 22 marked day one of our Mite end-of-season tournament. Lindsay's first draw of the day was Brock White. Brock was undefeated this season, but Lindsay Black was up for the challenge. After being down three goals in the first two minutes of the game, it looked bleak. During the season, Lindsay Black has never given up in a game. Down 6-2 at one point in the game, Lindsay battled back and scored the game tying goal with less than two minutes left in the third period. What a show of guts and determination against a tough team. The final score was 8-8.
In our second game of the day, Lindsay Black faced-off against Brock Green. Both teams were very evenly matched as we had tied both games of the regular season.
This game was a great example of what Lindsay has learned and built on this year. Finally overcoming this worthy opponent, Lindsay won the game 7-4 and moved on to the "A" final on Sunday.
Sunday March 23rd saw Lindsay Black go head-to-head, once again, against Brock White. Lindsay Black played their hearts out and managed to keep Brock within reach. Fantastic goal tending kept us in the game all the way through, limiting Brock to only six goals. Unfortunately Lindsay Black could not get a few bounces their way and were shut-out from the scoreboard. The final score of 0-6 did not reflect the effort and heart put into this game, by Lindsay Black, against a very tough team.
The results of this season is something to be very proud of for all players, coaches and parents alike. It has been a pleasure for me as head coach to watch this group of players grow as individuals, teammates and ambassadors to the greatest game on earth. A big thank you goes out to the players, parents, coaches and sponsors for making this a season one to remember. Great work Lindsay Mite Black! GO MUSKIES!!!!
