Muskies vs Millbrook: Shining Brighter Than the Stars
The Lindsay Muskies Atom Black squad illuminated the Millbrook Stars with a stellar performance in their last of a 3 home game stretch on Friday Nov.2 at 7:30pm and brought in their first win of the season with a 4-2 final score!

Millbrook opened the game with an unlucky bounce over the pads of the Lindsay goaltender. The Muskies fought hard and the pressure from the Stars finally broke with a rush up the boards, only to be stopped short by Millbrook’s defences. The puck was battled loose and Sydney Purdy #2, with a long smooth shot at an unaware Millbrook netminder, scored her first goal of the season and put her team on the board. The Muskies kept up the momentum into the 2nd period as the Jaxson/Syd duo yielded another goal for their team when Jaxson Leith #5 picked up a pass from his partner in the neutral zone and while aiming for his teammate in the low slot, shot a puck that went high over the Millbrook goalie and under the crossbar. Nearing the end of the 2nd period, Andrew Shows #7 found a lane and a scoring chance, aiming for the Stars net, but the shot was just wide of the post. As Millbrook wheeled around with the puck, forward Drake Robinson-West #9, who fell back to cover his teammate’s opportunity, stole the puck at the Muskies blue line and with a burst of speed beat the Stars defenceman to the net with plenty of time to fake the shot and slide it in the open side. The Stars returned with a hard shot that caught starting goaltender Alexis Kostashuk #1 off guard, but didn't make it into the net. She skated off to the bench with a sore knee but knew that fellow goaltender Seth Knight #29 would guard the gap between the pipes for their team for the remainder of the game.

Millbrook fought hard in the 3rd period, and disappointed fans cheered in hopes of a penalty shot when the Muskies found themselves tripped up at the Millbrook net on the breakaway. The Stars were fierce on the penalty kill though, and prevented the Atom Black team from furthering their score. Next, it was the Muskies turn at warming the bench in the box, and with defensemen Chase Boutin #6 angling into the boards and Nathan Wooldridge #17 hinging back to pick things up and turn it around, the Stars couldn't’t capitalize on the one man advantage. As the clock wound down, Millbrook added one more to their tally as a trickle-in puck snuck past the Lindsay goal line. Ending a game that saw nothing but 100% effort from the Muskies crew, Isaac Stuckey #15 clinched the 4-2 win with a crowd pleaser of a Bobby Orr style buzzer beater goal with only 3 seconds left to go!

Congratulations Drake Robinson-West #9 on receiving the AtoMc Golden Moments player of the game award for your keen sense of end to end play and hard work at closing the gap on your opponent!
