LMHA Winter Classic U13/U15 LL – Rules of the Tournament

The Rules contained herein are subject to change prior to the start of the tournament.  You are encouraged to ask the Tournament Director for any rule change when you register for your first game.

1.       This is an OMHA sanctioned tournament.  All tournament games will be governed by the rules and regulations of the OMHA. Team officials must present their GOVERNING BODY APPROVED ROSTERS 1 hour before the first scheduled face-off time for their team or the team will not be allowed on the ICE. The manager must have a copy of the approved roster available for the entire tournament.  Refunds will not be given to teams for non-compliance.

2.       All teams must have at least one (1) Certified Coach and one (1) Certified Trainer on the bench.  They must be present throughout the entire game.

3.       The team manager or coach must report to the Tournament Welcome Table at the Lindsay Recreation Centre at least thirty minutes prior to their first game of the tournament.  After this, a team forfeits any game if they are not ready to go on the ice at game time.

4.       All teams are guaranteed 3 games.  Games will consist of a three (3) minute warm-up, three (3) stop time periods, each 10-10-10 in duration and a flood after each game. In case of unforeseen problems, the tournament committee reserves the right to alter the length of games as needed. There will be the possibility of a curfew in all games.

5.       In accordance with OMHA regulations, when a team is ahead by five or more goals in the third period, the game will proceed under “straight time” unless the gap is reduced to three goals, at which point the clock will revert back to stop time.  The only time the clock would be stopped during “straight time” is if an on-ice injury should occur.  All penalties are running time.

6.       Teams that are tied at the end of regulation play will automatically go to a shoot-out to decide the winner.

NOTE:   The initial three (3) players taking part in the shoot-out may be any three (3) players selected by the coach before the start of the game.  After the three (3) original players shoot, each subsequent shooter shall be a player who has not yet taken part in the shoot-out, until all players have taken part.  (Shoot-out is done two (2) players at the same time.  E.g., One (1) from each team.) If there is still a tie after each player has shot once, team can start over with whichever shooter they wish to use.  If time allotted for the game expires and there is still a tie, the tie-breaker will end up as a coin toss conducted by the referee and the 2 coaches (one from each team).  Only one toss will be conducted.

7.       This tournament will be a round robin style tournament.  There are 2 groups in each age division.  Only during the quarter finals, semi-finals and finals will group A play against group B.  Only championship game will be rewarded with trophies for Champions and Medals for Finalists.

8.       Visiting and Home teams must occupy the player bench and end assigned to them.

9.       In the event of conflicting colours, the home team must change sweaters.

11.   All Tournament Committee decisions in consultation with Referees shall be final.
