Looking to Get Back on Track
The Lindsay Bantam Muskies are looking to get back in the win column this week with a home game on Monday Dec 17th against Uxbridge and an away game in Peterborough on Thursday Dec 20th. These are important games as the team starts looking toward the playoffs in the New Year after a tough week last week with 2 losses.
The Muskies played 2 games last week and came out on the losing side against both Whitby White and Whitby Blue. On Dec 9th the team hosted Whitby White and came away on the wrong end of a 6-2 decision. Whitby White got off to an early 1-0 lead but Lindsay played an excellent first period and led 2-1 after 1 with goals by Caileb Duffy and Dawson Bruce. Assists went to Riley MacIver (2), Garrett Fierheller and Hunter Reedman. However in the 2nd and 3rd periods the team took undisciplined penalties and got outworked by Whitby White.
On Dec 13th the team went to Whitby to play the Whitby Blue squad. Again the team fell behind early in the 1st but battled back to tie it at the mid-way point of the period on a goal by Dawson Bruce with assists to Caileb Duffy and Drake McQuarrie. However once again the team took a number of undisciplined penalties to fall behind 3-1 on Whitby powerplay goals before the end of the 1st. The team battled hard in the 2nd to cut the deficit to 3-2 with a goal by Zack Rhodes with assists to Garrett Fierheller and Riley MacIver. But once again ran into late penalty problems which saw Whitby take a 6-2 lead on 2 powerplay goals heading into the 3rd. Down 6-2 with a period to play the coaches wanted to see the team battle and win the 3rd period. In a very physical 3rd the team pleased the coaching staff with their intensity and energy and battled hard until the end but were only able to cut into the lead a little with a goal by Caileb Duffy with assists to Zack Rhodes and Riley MacIver. While the team dropped the 6-3 decision there were some positives that the team took out of this game. Hopefully the team can build on this period against Uxbridge and Peterborough this week and leading into the playoff season in the New Year.
