Game 20 vs Manvers
With the end of the first half of the season over...the league reviewed the standings and the decision was made to move the Manvers Mustangs to Tier 1.
Manvers had run over all competition in Tier II and thus, the move was to provide them with better teams to play.

Wednesday January 18, 2017 would mark the first official game between the Manvers Mustangs and the Lindsay Teal Muskies.  They had previously split two exhibition games with the Muskies taking the last game 7-1 in Manvers.
Our Muskies would be on the road again for this matchup and all fans packed into the Manvers arena for an early evening game at 6:30.
The puck dropped at approx 6:40 and Lindsay took control of the game and pressured the Mustangs in their end for most of the 1st period.
With 7:24 left to play in the 1st; Jack E. took the puck at the point and moved down the right boards and cut around the Manvers defence.  He spotted Sammy T. and fed him a perfect pass in front of the net...Sammy T. made no mistake with a one-timer to the open net.  1-0 Muskies!!!!
Before the buzzer sounded to end the 1st...Sammy T. stole the puck from a Manvers forward and headed into the Mustangs zone on a breakaway.  Sammy T. calmly fired the puck over the goalies blocker to increase the lead.  2-0 Lindsay!!!!
The 2nd period would be much like the 1st, with Lindsay taking control of most of the play.  Unfortunately, the Manvers defence was tough and managed to stymie our offence before we could get could scoring chances.
If our Muskies did break through to get off a good scoring chance..the Mustang goalies would make a fantastic save or limit any rebounds.
With only 47 seconds played in the 3rd period..the Mustangs managed to get a couple of players alone in front of our net and fired a rebound into our net to tighten the score.  2-1
The early 3rd period goal seemed to spark Manvers and the play was more back and forth and the scoring chances were not all in our Muskies favour.
With 1:45 left to play in the 3rd, Connor S. fired the puck top cheese from the right side with assists from Steven T. and Owen D.  3-1 Lindsay!!!!
The Mustangs did not give up and as the clock wound down they pulled their goalie and pressured our Muskies with 6 men on the ice.
With just under 37 seconds left in the game, the Mustangs took advantage of a bad bounce off a clearing attempt and fired the puck into the open side of our net.  3-2
Lindsay would manage to hold off the Mustangs for the final 37 seconds and their 3rd victory of the 2nd half of the season!
Wes I. played the entire game and made some fantastic stops to keep ahead of his counterparts at the other end of the ice.
Our defence managed to keep the Manvers offence out of our end of the ice for the majority of the game with some hard skating and aggressive back checking.
Our next game will be against Mariposa to determine 1st place!!!
