Game 21 vs Mariposa
Thursday night was an early evening game between Lindsay Teal Muskies and the Mariposa Lightning to determine who would have sole possession of 1st place.
Although it is still early in the 2nd half of the season..this game would be very important as a tone setter for future meetings.

The puck dropped at 5:35 and the play went back and forth and everyone in the arena could tell that this was going to be a close matched game.
With 1:25 played in the 1st, the Lightning struck first as their flashy forward managed to deke past our defence and fire one into our net. 1-0 Mariposa.
With 6:31 left to play in the 1st Sammy T. passed the puck to Josh G. who went down the right side, past the Lightning defence and fired the puck over the goalies glove hand to tie the game at ones!.  1-1
The play continued to go back and forth..end to end with the Lightning goalie making some fantastic saves to keep the game close.
With 4:06 left in the 1st...Mariposa's flashy forward once again took the puck and got outside on our forwards and defence and drove to the net and fired it past our goaltender.  2-0 Lightning
The 2nd period again would be back and forth with both goalies making great saves to keep the game close and to keep their respective teams in the game.
With 3:34 left in the 2nd period..Lightning again struck as(you guessed it)...Mariposa's flashy forward made his way down the left side and fired the puck low and scored on the far side of the net.  3-1 Mariposa.
33 seconds later; Josh G. came down the right side and fired the puck by the Lightning goalie...our Muskies were back in the game and had finally solved the opposition goalie in the 2nd.  3-2
The 3rd period was tough fought and tight..both teams stepped up their defence and the room to move around was limited.
The defence and the goalies on both teams played a fantastic 3rd and any scoring chances were pushed aside or held for whistles.
With the game winding down into the final minute; Coach Perrin pulled the goalie and had a 6th man hit the ice to put some pressure on the Lightning in hopes of tying the game.
The final 15 seconds turned into a complete melee as the Mariposa goalie ended up leaving the net to go after the puck in the corner.  The puck squirted out to the front of the net but our players couldn't seem to get a stick on it and as chaos took place the buzzer sounded to end the game.
Both team put on a great show for the fans in attendance but our Muskies were on the losing side for the 1st time in this half of the season.
Fortunately, we have our opportunity to even the score with Mariposa at the end of this month and every player looks forward to it!!!
Our next game is Saturday vs Sturgeon in Lindsay..followed by a rematch with Manvers Sunday in Lindsay as well
