3 Game Weekend for the Muskies by:Tim Junkin
The Lindsay Atom BB Muskies traveled to Orono on Friday night to kick off a 3 games in 3 days stretch.The first period was a back and forth affair, however you could see the relentless pressure of the Muskies was starting to wear on the Orono team.The pressure continued into the 2nd and the Orono team began to buckle. The Muskies put a 6 spot up on the board during this period. The 3rd period was just more of the same as the relentless pressure of the Muskies was just too much for the hosts. Another 6 goals in the 3rd had the final score at 12-1. A great start to the weekend!
The team traveled to Woodville for a date with the Hurricanes on Saturday evening. The 1st period was pretty much all Muskies as they managed to pot 3 while only giving up one. As the 2nd period started it was becoming clear that the Hurricanes were going to have their hands full trying to keep this one close. The Muskies continued to work and with the exception of a few moments late in the game where there was some lapses in their play, they added to their total. The muskies walked out of Woodville with an 11-1 final and moved on to their next game against the Highland Storm on Sunday. Sunday's game had some special meaning for the Muskies, as this same Highland Storm team had handed them a defeat, in a tournament semi-final, earlier in the season. The pace was quick in the 1st period as the teams remained scoreless after 1. During the 2nd period the Muskies started to show that they didn't travel that far to lose again and went up 3-1 after 2. In the 3rd the Muskies stretched their legs and skated out to a larger lead as the Highland team started to collapse under the continuous fore check and puck cycle game of the Muskies. 4 more goals in the 3rd made the Final score 7-2. Congrats Muskies on a great weekend of hockey!
