Home town rivalry
When you have two teams from one center that have to play each other during the regular season, you know there are going to be a lot of guys out on the ice with something to prove to each other.

Tonight's game was no different as the Midget Teal team took on the 'Home' team of Lindsay Black.  It always seems a little weird to be the visiting team in your home arena, but once the game starts, its still the same game.
In what has become somewhat of a trend in many of the Teal games, the first period was pretty quite on the game sheet, no penalties and no goals - for either side.  Teal was not going to let that go for too long though as Jeff potted the first goal just 45 seconds into the second frame.  However, Lindsay Black is not a team that wants to roll-over and play dead for their home-town rivals and came back with the tying goal two and half minutes into the frame.  Fortunately Teal wasn't planning on letting that go by unnoticed, with just under six minutes remaining in the period, Jeff scored his 2nd of the game to put the visiting team up by one, followed by Connor netting one to bring the score to 3-1.  In a bit of a defensive lapse by pretty much the whole team on the ice at the time, Black was able to get their second of the game just 17 seconds later, to head into the flood on a high note, down by only 1 goal.
Unfortunately the 3rd period was not too kind to team Teal as they surrendered 2 goals to find themselves trailing by a goal with only 2:20 showing on the clock.  Faced with a one goal deficit, Teal coaches did something they have not had the opportunity or need to do much this season, pull the goalie.  With well over a minute left in the game, Teal would attempt to tie the game since the face-off was in the Home end of the ice.  Three or four attempts failed and ended up resulting in icing calls as Black tried to get the empty net goal.  Teal had to keep trying.  With about 12 seconds left on the clock, Brock won the face-off and got the puck back to the extra man on the ice, Wil, standing at the top of the face-off circle.  Once Wil got he puck, he wasted no time in firing a shot at the net, and with 10 seconds left on the clock, Teal tied the game back up to steal the point back.
Overall it was a good effort by the boys since they once again had to play shorthanded with only 8 skaters for the night.  With no ice available in Lindsay this coming weekend, the boys once again get some time off, and will face Manvers in their next game on Tuesday of next week.
